Because of the hot weather I am making this walk shorter.
We will meet in the same place and do the first part - but we will then avoid walking on open moorland, missing out the main part beside Down Tor to Cuckoo Rock and the stone row. Instead we will head up the track from Norsworthy bridge to Crazywell Pool and return along the leat.
The walk will be approximately 5 miles long
A typical Dartmoor walk with great views and interesting historical elements. Mostly straightforward walking with moderate ups and downs, although there is one slightly tricky downhill scramble.
Walk over to join the Devonport Leat for a short while before passing the ruins of Leather Tor farm. Then we continue on tracks towards Norsworthy Bridge before heading up besides Down Tor and over to Combeshead Tor via Cuckoo Rock.
Then on to the distinctive stone row before eventually rejoining the leat. We follow the leat before striking off to visit Crazywell Pool. After this we continue to follow the leat as it tumbles down the hill towards the river Meavy. And back to the carpark.
Please text leader to book on walk.
