We are the Retford Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
A picturesque route though very pleasant and varied farmland, with views of the Chesterfield Canal, the activity of the local flying club, and the archeology / natural history of a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The paths and tracks are all fairly good, with just a couple of stiles when crossing the railway. We will have a coffee break at St Peter’s church in Thorpe Salvin, and have lunch at the bridge over the Chesterfield canal at Turner Wood, where we can watch the swans, ducks and a goat! We then head through Lindrick Dale, and after crossing the A57 with great care, we have a very pleasant walk through Anston Stones Wood to return to our cars.
Please bring strong footwear/boots, as some parts may be muddy after rain. You will also need food and drinks. PLEASE PHONE WALK LEADER ON MORNING OF WALK IF WEATHER IS BAD, AS IT MAY BE POSTPONED/CANCELLED.
