From Powburn our route turns east along the Breamish valley past the lakes formed by the old Powburn gravel pits (where there were lots of swans on the pre-walk). We pass through the hamlet of Beanley and climb to Beanley Plantation. There should be good views of the Cheviots and towards the coast from here as many trees have been removed. We cross the moor towards Titlington Mount then up to Titlington Pike for more views of the Cheviots and above Shepherds Law hermitage. Our return is through fields to Shawdonwood House and along a disused railway line into Powburn.
Mixture of mainly good paths (some mud after the rain), tracks and minor roads. There were some cattle (well-behaved) during the pre-walk.
