Bus & Train based walk

Meet Point: Bus Stand E at Shudehill Interchange in time for the 09:40 bus
Transport to Walk Start: The X43 express bus service from Shudehill leaves at 09:40 for final destination Burnley, calling at our starting point Rawtenstall on the way – a single fare is £3.
Suggested Ticket: A single fare from Todmorden to Manchester is £11.60 and the outward ticket from Manchester to Rawtenstall is just £3.00 on the bus.
Walk Start: Rawtenstall Bus Station at 10:35
Waypoints: Rawtenstall Bus Station, Cowpe Lowe, Top of Leach, Jackson’s Moor, Lee Farm, Britannia, Range Hoyle, Gorpley Clough, Stones Wood, Gauxholme, Rochdale Canal, Todmorden Railway Station
Return Services: From Todmorden, trains run direct to Manchester Victoria four times an hour until late, taking between 22 and 28 minutes
Extra: The toilets at the walk start will charge 20p, but are in good condition. There are none from then until the end of the walk. Optional drinks at the end of the walk . Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)
Starting from Rawtenstall, we head south and climb to reach higher ground that takes us across Cowpe Low and then Hail Storm Hill, before descending again to lower ground near Britannia. Then we climb again going near to a wind farm, before traversing the bleak moorland of Range Hoyle. After this we get the reward of the beautiful Gorpley Clough, with its waterfalls and trees. After this there is another uphill stretch before we descend to Gauxholme to join the Rochdale Canal for the final mile back to Todmorden.
