Leaving Aylesford train station we walk alongside the River Medway into Aylesford village. The St. Peter and St. Paul church is nearing 1000 years old and those that wish may visit.
Leaving the village we head for Eccles. We pass the Aylesford Quarry Pit which has been active since 1851 and although we can't walk around it now, we can see it through the trees.
From Eccles we take an elongated track, which becomes steeper towards the end, up towards our first snack break the Bluebell Hill Picnic site. Hopefull we will enjoy some lovely views from here.
Taking the North Downs Way we walk downhill passing Kits Coty, a 5,000-year-old Neolithic chambered tomb. We can pause here for photos etc for those who are not familiar with this historic site.
Continuing on the North Downs Way we cross fields and pastures heading towards Cobtree Manor Golf course which we cross with care, and then arrive at Cobtree Manor Park where there is use of a bathroom.
If the group are able to walk a further 15 minutes we can take our lunch at The Malta Inn or a cute little cafe close by. It will hopefully be bright and dry for lunch by the River.
Following lunch we will cross Allington Lock and head back towards Aylesford village and the train station once again following the river.
