Meet at the SDW carpark, Steyning Road. Please car share if possible as this carpark can get busy. Alternatively, park at the Adur Rec carpark in Shoreham and catch the Brighton No 2 bus at 9.48 from Shoreham High Street bus stop and alight at the SDW bus stop. We walk up Beeding Hill and then follow the Monarch’s Way to join the SDW path to Devils Dyke.
Walkers will be able to finish their walk at Devils Dyke and catch the Brighton bus No 77 from Devil’s Dyke to Brighton (12.02hrs, 13.15hrs, 14.35hrs). To return to the carpark at Shoreham you will then need to catch the Coastline No 700 bus to the Adur Rec bus stop.
For those wishing to complete the walk we will have our lunch break. The Devil’s Dyke pub is open but very busy. After lunch we will return the way we came to the SDW path, via the Youth Hostel (toilets), Beeding Hill and back to the carpark. The No 2 bus back to Steyning is approx. 45 mins past the hour.
This is a strenuous walk and walking poles are recommended as the Monarch’s Way footpath has loose stones. Bring a snack/picnic and plenty to drink.
Dogs on leads at all times as cattle roam on the SDW.
