A classic English walk with a Kiwi twist.
Join me to celebrate Matariki by walking the Seven Sisters of England. Known as the Pleiades, Storehouse, The Netted Stars or Subaru in other cultures, Matariki marks the beginning of Māori New Year in Aotearoa New Zealand as the Pleiades star cluster rises in the eastern skies. Traditionally Matariki signifies the success of the season ahead: clear bright stars being a good omen whilst hazy stars are said to indicate a harsh winter. Each individual star of the cluster has a name and represents a specific thing such as wind or food.
Enjoy spectacular views of the cliffs whilst walking this iconic coastal pathway and partake in a sweet treat or two from the Antipodes to keep your energy levels up.
No New Year celebration would be complete without hospitality and there will be ample opportunity following the walk for restorative fellowship in a local establishment.
Please bring a packed lunch. We will not be having a long lunch break, however there will be ample time for everyone to eat and rest before continuing. Refreshments (drinks) are available on the walk.
There are toilets at both Seaford and Eastbourne Stations.
No booking is required.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent upon a number of factors, such as the weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.

Take the 08.54am train from London Victoria (Clapham Junction 9.01am) arriving in Seaford at 10.19am, changing at Lewes (arriving at 09.56am with 4 minutes to change to the Seaford train).
Return trains from Eastbourne direct to London Victoria are at 05 and 33 past each hour.
Buying a day return ticket to Eastbourne and a single journey ticket from Lewes to Seaford may prove to be the most economical way to travel via train.
