The walk will start with a meander through Rodding Meadows before briefly joining the London Loop through Epping Forest to Chingford Plain, where we will stop for lunch.
There is a cafe and a pub at the lunch stop, but as always, a backup packed lunch is a good idea.
After lunch we will skirt Connaught Water and head further into the Forest before returning to Buckhurst Hill station via Knighton Wood.
The lunch stop is near Chingford Station for those who don't want to do the whole walk.
No dogs.
The walk starts and finishes at Buckhurst Hill station on the Central Line which is in zone 5 (make sure you get on a train that stops at Buckhurst Hill rather than the Roding valley branch)
There are supposedly toilets at Buckhurst Hill Station, but when I was there the men's toilet was locked and the women's didn't have toilet paper, so don't rely on them. If you get to the station early you could head across to the nearby Waitrose, which has one public toilet. There are toilets at the lunch stop.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors such as weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken or unforeseen diversion due to paths closure.
No booking required.
