Overview

History surrounds you on this walk! From the small circular car park this route follows part of the Nant Merddog stream gently north before breaking out onto the open moorland past the old Ash Levels above Ebbw Vale. It follows a dismantled tramway before contouring around Mynydd Carn-y-cefn and following the broad ridge south. It then descends into the valley and re-enters the nature reserve, staying on level ground back through the enchanting woodland before finally descending back to the start point.
