Overview

Esh Winning to Stockley Gill circular

A moderate to strenuous walk (in some places) of just under 8 miles.   Ascending from Esh Winning through a mixture of woodland, open fields and a bit of country road, we will be rewarded with lovely views over the beautiful Deerness Valley.   After lunch, we will return to Esh Winning, enjoying a similar mixture of open views of the valley and woodland before we reach the Deerness Valley railway path for a short spell and then on to our cars through the village. The ground is a little squelchy(ish) and muddy(ish) in places, but it is February in the North East so put your boots on and your gaiters (if you have them).

Dave Marshall has again kindly offered to provide an option for a shorter walk if required.
