A lovely linear walk in Kent with a variety of stunning scenery and historical interest. We head out of Tonbridge via the River Medway and Postern Lane. We continue through the beautiful Somerhill Park with its stunning stone Jacobean mansion. This is followed by a steady climb through Gorse Wood before descending to the impressive Colebrook Viaduct. We head through pleasant countryside to Southborough. We then continue through Southborough Common to Bidborough, where we stop for lunch. There is a pub, but please bring a packed lunch.
After lunch we walk through Birch Wood and then follow the Wealdway. We enjoy beautiful views, then head downhill to the picturesque Haydens Country Park with its two lakes and follow the River Medway back to Tonbridge.
Travel: Take the 9.31 from Charing Cross (London Bridge 9.40), arrives Tonbridge10.27. There are several trains an hour back to London.
