This walk is around Leybourne Lakes,woods and a small section of River Medway. Mainly on well maintained footpaths but could be muddy by the river. Leybourne lakes is an area created from disused gravel pits. It is popular with families,cyclists,walkers, water sports enthusiasts and fisherman. It covers 230 acres.
Parking is in the Country Park Car Park ME20 6AA. This might not be a strictly accurate post code. The Shell garage is adjacent to the country entrance with post code of ME6 5LB.
From M20 exit at junction 4 follow signs to A228 north continue straight ahead at traffic lights. At the roundabout take the fourth exit sign posted country.
From M2 exit at junction 2 and follow signs for A228 south continue straight ahead at first three roundabouts at fourth roundabout take first exit signed country park.
Follow brown country park sign. It costs £3.50 for 2-4 hours or £5 for over four hours. Pay by card or yourparkingspace app or autopay. Toilet facilities in car park and dog friendly cafe after walk or drive to local pub.
The walk is mainly flat on well maintained paths but there are some muddy tracks near river. Two stiles over railway.
Walk starts at 10.am and will take about 2 hours including nibble break.
Please allow extra time to get to the starting point due to the roadworks at the Leybourne Lakes roundabout on the A228
