Overview

The walk is on farmland, woodland paths, forest tracks, alongside a beck, and with a short length of quiet minor road. The walk returns along the same route but with a variation of a midway loop.

Passing through the picturesque village of Braithwaite the woodland path to Thornthwaite affords superb views of the Northern Fells across Bassenthwaite (Lake) valley. The climb through the forest area, alongside Comb Beck, on good paths and tracks leads to the Whinlatter Visitor Centre.
