This walk will take us from the fascinating village of Winster, famous for its Market House dating back to the 16th or 17th century, to Luntor Rocks and then on to Brightgate via the Limestone Way. Great views of the Derwent Valley from the east side are possible in good weather. We return via Wensley Dale, Wensley village and Clough Wood. Fungi enthusiasts may well be pleased as the woods have plentiful examples at the moment.
Please note: The original route has been changed.
No dogs except assistance dogs due to livestock.
Please bring completed ICE cards.
Please ensure good supplies of food and fluids. Assistance dogs are welcome.
The terrain will be very variable so good quality walking boots are recommended. There are 4 ascents and descents, some of which are steep, so walking poles are recommended. The walk has some challenging sections.
There is a bus service leaving from Wensley (half—way point) to Winster at 13.43. Those who prefer to do half the distance may want to take advantage of this.
