This walk has a combination of attractive, open downland views and the chance to see the last of the autumn colours in the woodland.
Leaving from the Junction car park at Pitt Down we'll walk gently downhill to Lower Slackstead, where we'll turn into Ampfield Wood and pass by the rear of Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. After our lunch break the walk continues through Braishfield before we gradually gain height towards the St John's church at Farley Chamberlayne. We then walk through Parnholt Wood and pass by Farley Mount back to the car park.
There are paths, open tracks, woodland tracks and quiet roads.
There are 2 or 3 stiles, and a footbridge where the bottom step down is missing requiring a large step down.
There was quite a lot of mud in the woodland and at gates. Poles and gaiters definitely recommended.
This is a picnic walk so please bring food and drink. Please let the walk leader know if you are planning to join this walk as we may set off early if all expected walkers have arrived.
