This short walk will be a gentle stroll along the banks of the River Arle and through the vineyards returning to the town centre. There are no stiles and just a couple of gentle inclines.
We will meet at the Arlebury Park Recreation Centre, then walk through the playing fields down to reach the banks of the River Arle.
We will then proceed west along the river, passing the Eel House (managed by the Town Trust), then continue along the Ox Drove towards Abbotstone.
Our walk then heads east for a short stretch on the road, before we head south across the vineyards of Vranken Pommery - a French champagne manufacturer based in Reims. From here there are delightful views of the town and the adjoining sports fields.
We will then continue east to Pinglestone Barn, where we are hoping to have a brief overview of the vineyard activities - from vine to glass! (not yet confirmed).
We then return back to the Town Centre/ and car park via the Fulling Mill. We will take longer to return if we are able to visit the vineyard.
Stagecoach's No.64 bus provides half-hourly service between Winchester Broadway and Alresford, also No. 67 which is less frequent.
Please remember to bring a bottle of water with you for the journey.
