The plan may need modifying depending upon the weather. Those who sign up will be notified of any changes to the route.
As presently planned, the walk is not particularly hilly, but is typical rolling downland (no stiles!). Initially we will head to Holybourne Church and the village pond before we head off along St Swithuns Way towards Upper Froyle ... keeping an eye out for Alan Titchmarsh if he is at home!
In Froyle , we will head for the churchyard for the banana break , looking out for the Froyle "Saints" in the village and the original Treloars College (now a Hotel).
The return route passes along a track beside the cemetery, through to the top of Holybourne Down (with excellent views across to Alton ... alternatively into a bank of heavy dark cloud !!) . From here we descend back to the village, pub and lunch !!
The route is quite heavy going in places and won't have been helped by the additional wet weather since then. Hence the possibility of a last minute change of plan.
We will meet at the Pub by 10.00 so that we can order lunch, but we would like to set off by 10.15 if possible.
There is plenty of parking and if you are early the pub is open for coffee and breakfast.
