This walk takes a well established route up onto the limestone ridge above Sunbiggin Tarn on firm tracks and paths. It then traverses the ridge and descends to Sunbiggin Farm on paths that are less well-trodden and rougher in places. Once at the farm it picks up a dead end road that becomes a track back onto the fellside and returns to the start.
Overall, the walk will be taken at a leisurely pace with slow ascents.
There is one ladder stile in good condition.
There are a lot of 'free range' sheep, cattle and horses on some sections.
A warning for shorts-wearers: there are some killer stinging nettles on a short section near the farm that cannot be avoided.
