Overview

We take the direct route up from Sedbergh on the Dales High Way. Past Arant Haw, to Calders and past Bram Rigg to the top of the Calf (676m). We then continue on the Dales High Way to Ram's Gill and we then circle back to the head of Cautley Spout. NOTE: this is a rugged and boggy path on the side of a steep hill. But with great views. We then go up Force Gill Beck back towards the Calf. At this point we can either do plan A ( 12 miles) or plan B ( direct route back to Sedbergh , 10 miles), depending on weather/group. Plan A: from Bram Rigg Top we take the path along the ridge down to Bram Rigg and Eller Mire Beck, which is a wide stream we have to cross. Then onto Howgill Lane and back into Sedbergh. Coffee/ tea at the Black Bull Inn. NOTE: the Howgills is exposed in bad weather. The pace will be steady.
