We start by walking through deciduous woods and over Hood Hill escarpment on muddy woodland paths. A short length along Oldstead Road then takes us to the disused High Town Bank Road where we'll tackle a long steep ascent before pausing for a lunch break. It's then relatively-easy walking along the lane to join the Cleveland Way at Casten Dike. We finish by descending from Roulston Scar down through the woods back to the car park. Far-reaching views to the South, West and North-East from along the route if we're lucky enough to have a clear day!
No stiles. One long steep ascent and several short steep ascents and descents in the woods so walking poles would be helpful.
Opportunity for tea and scones at Yorkshire Gliding Club cafe after the walk. If you would like to reserve a scone, please let me know before 6pm on Wednesday 4th June. The cafe is a short drive away.
