An opportunity to experience the stunning views and history of this part of the North Yorks Moors. From the car park we descend to Moorlands Farm and walk in a south easterly direction first on a path across fields to join a track known as Daleside Road. At Thorgill we leave the track and ascend to Hill Cottages and continue climbing to the start of the railway path. The hard work is now done as we follow the historic railway line all the way around to our start point passing the iron and stone kilns and information boards telling the story of a long gone industry. Superb views of Rosedale if we are blessed with good weather.
PLEASE NOTE; In the absence of a nearby cafe or tea room I am unable to provide scones and cake on this occasion BUT just up the road from the car park is the famous Lion Inn where beer, soft drinks, tea, coffee, beer and excellent meals can be purchased. Alternatively walkers might like to call in somewhere on the way home.
