This walk through Sherwood Forest should have some fine Autumnal colours by the end of October. We follow the edge of the forest and go west and then north, having lunch at Budby Heath. We return, seeing the Major Oak on the way back. We did this walk last year and we all enjoyed it. The walk is on tracks, with no stiles, and may be slightly muddy in places.
There may be tics in the long grass by the paths, so please cover up and check yourself after the walk. Dogs must be on a lead, kept away from long grass and also checked for tics.
Please bring a packed lunch. There is a pleasant RSPB cafe at the Visitor Centre for a drink afterwards.
If you would like to join this walk please contact the Leader using the email link. The walk is bookable up to 20 people.
The RSPB car park costs £6 for the day, payable by cash or card., or you can pay in the gift shop. RSPB members park for free. The toilets and cafe open at 10.00 a.m. and the walk will start shortly after.
The post code given is for the Visitor Centre, as it is accurate, but car park is on the opposite side of the road.
From the RSPB car park, walk over the zebra crossing and up to the Visitor Centre which is on the right. Come down the sloping path on the right to get to the entrance to the cafe and toilets, where we will meet.
Unfortunately on Sundays, the bus arrives too late for the walk. If interested, please contact the walk leader by the link on the website.
