Join us for an impressive walk in this rich archaeological landscape with the remains of Iron Age and Bronze Age Settlements as well as expansive views of the Cheviots.
Starting at Ingram village we head southwest along the western edge of the Ingram valley. Following a well-defined path we climb Brough Law (with great views at 300m above sea level) out of the Ingram valley and walk along an undulating path up Ewe Hill and Cochrane Pike (at 335m) before descending southwest past Lumsden Hill. This section is open and exposed, with rewarding views of the Cheviots and surrounding hills.
We will then walk around the base of Old Fawdon Hill and continue east towards Gibb’s Hill and the Fawdon Burn area to enjoy some magnificent views over the Fawdon valley and the ancient settlements below. From here we take one last (and gentle) climb up East Hill before descending back into the village of Ingram where we can enjoy a well deserved break with tea, coffee and cakes at the Visitor Centre.
A mix of open hill paths, farm tracks, and bridleways with a short but steep ascent at the start of the walk out of the Ingram valley up Brough Law - there are rest stops along the way to catch your breath and enjoy the expansive views.
Please wear suitable walking boots with rain gear in case of inclement weather, and bring a packed lunch, snacks and sufficient water for the day.
Advance booking is required for this walk. To reserve your place, please e-mail the walk leaders, Miriam and John, through the contact box above - and remember to include your mobile number in the e-mail.
Booking opens on Monday, 28th July.
