Overview

Departing from Braithwaite, we will take the heather path skirting the NW side of Stile End and continue up to the col between Scar Crags and Sail. It is then a pull up to Crag Hill firstly via the infamous snaking path to Sail and then via its steep, rocky path along The Scar. Once we have summitted Crag Hill we will skirt around the top of Addacomb Hole to Wandope. From here, it is an easy descent down to a main junction of paths before heading to Coledale Hause. The descent to Force Crag Mine is via the lovely path down the Coledale valley. The paths are good throughout although there may be a bit of 'hands on' ascending The Scar. Before we visit the mines, there are two becks to cross with Coledale Beck via stepping stones. Although graded as strenuous, this walk will be taken at a moderate pace. NB: if the weather is good and the group agree, we could take the path up to Scar Crags and walk along the wonderful ridge to the col before Sail.
