This is an 8.5 miles figure of 8 walk on moorland tracks and quiet country roads, with 6 stiles and 1400 ft of ascent. There are several inclines, some are steep with gravely paths, but these are worth it for the views up Danby Dale and Fryup Dale (if the weather allows). We start at Danby village hall carpark and walk West towards Danby Park Wood, turning North just before this to follow the Pannierman's Causeway to Clitherbeck farm. We then turn South to follow the Southward Brow track before following the road to Danby Beacon. We descend from this to Oakley walls and follow the roads and tracks to return to our cars in Danby.
Some sections may be a little boggy if we have had recent rain, but it is mostly on good tracks.
Refreshments afterwards to be at Danby tearoom or Castleton tearoom, depending on numbers on the day.
