Join us for a ramble through Hertfordshire's scenic charms.
Our walk begins at Digswell Viaduct, a historical marvel of Victorian engineering where the railway arches sweep high above the verdant valley, setting the tone for a day of exploration. As we leave the viaduct behind, we'll wind our way up to Welwyn North Station, adding a reminder of modern life, before we ascend up Harmer Green Lane taking a right turn into the woods. We will find ourselves on a tranquil track. The woodland walk is a serene interlude, as soon, the trees part revealing wide open fields. The landscape shifts as we make our way towards Burnham Green village, a hidden gem with it's country charm and cottages. From here the route takes us to The Horns in Datchworth, a historic pub. It's the perfect place to pause and take in our surroundings on the green, and an opportunity for refreshments. The next leg of the journey takes us towards Tewin, a peaceful village where life seems to slow down. We will pass through St Peter's Church grounds, a striking architectural landmark that's steeped in history and surrounded by lovely gardens and views. As we drop down to Tewinbury Farm we may see llamas, pigs and cattle. This is a working farm and another chance for refreshments. It's a short, gentle walk back to Digswell Viaduct where our ramble completes its circle of countryside, history and scenic beauty, a perfect blend of nature, heritage and quiet rural life.
