Overview

From Roydon station we will walk alongside the River Stort Navigation, upstream as far as Parndon Mill Lock, crossing over the ford footbridge near Eastwick, through fields, circling around Gilston Park House, dropping down to Gilston village and onto the Stort towpath again near Latton Lock, crossing the railway via Harlow Zigzag Bridge and so to Harlow Town station.

We will meet at Roydon station car park entrance and finish at Harlow Town station. Walkers arriving by car can park at Roydon station (paying), or nearby at the village car park in Beaumont Park Drive (free), travelling back to Roydon by train after the walk. An alternative is to drive to Harlow, parking at the station (paying), or at the Moorhen Pub (free) and take the 10:09 train to Roydon before the walk.

Takeaway refreshments are available at Harlow Town station (plus toilets for ticket holders).
