Overview

This short walk replaces the Colsterdale Now and Then walk, which has now been moved to 7th March due to current weather conditions and the state of the ground and streams.

The walk starts at the Swinton Bivouac Car Park at High Knowle. Note that there is a charge of £3 per car, which can either be paid by putting coins in an envelope in the hut, or by card in the cafe.

The walk combines sections of the Ripon Rowel Walk, with paths and tracks through the Druid's Plantation, via the temple, plus a short section along the edge of the plantation on Clints Moor. There is a short section of minor road, followed by field paths beside Sole Beck Gill.

Given the recent weather conditions, it is likely to be muddy in places and there is a reasonably steep descent through the woods in the Druid's Plantation down to Burgess Bank. There are a few decent stiles.
