Please see the link to the Inner London Ramblers webpages about the Green Chain Walks. This walk consists of section 1 and most of section 2 in their descriptions. This is the first of several sections I will walk.
The Walk starts from Hoveton Road Bus Stop on Crossway. The walk up to lunch is paved and fairly flat. We walk up to the Thames, then east for short distance, before heading roughly south through suburban parks. We pass South Mere (lake) and head south to Lesnes Abbey to have lunch after 2.5 miles (café for lunch with outdoor seating only or picnic and toilets). If it should be very wet there is a Costa Coffee at the end of the walk.
After lunch we walk through Lesnes Abbey Woods where there is some light mud and 250 feet of climbing. We then walk along suburban roads to Frank's Park. From here we head, on a bridge across the railway and the A2016 to the Thames. We walk south along the Thames to Erith Riverside Shopping Centre (Costa Coffee) and then on to Erith Station.
