Great Chesterford to Newport tbc via Saffron Walden

Catch the 09:28 train from Liverpool Street (9.40 Tottenham Hale) As near the rear of the train as possible I will get on at Tottenham Hale.

We set off from the charming village of Great Chesterford, and are soon in the rolling Essex countryside. The morning section of the walk is mainly rural with most of the walking along field footpaths. We stop for lunch in Saffron Walden, where there’s a choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants. Pub booking to be confirmed after walkover. There are also pleasant picnic facilities. Bus services run from here to Newport, Audley End and Great Chesterford stations for anyone wishing to leave the walk at lunchtime. After lunch, we have a short walk through the town into Audley Park, and after walking through some meadows and wooded pathways we pass close to the beautiful and stately Audley End House. The walk ends at great Newport Station.
