Overview

A circuit to the west of Hawnby via Peak Scar Wood and Gower Dale, with lunch stop at All Saints Church in Hawnby, then around the west side of Coomb Hill to Arden Hall and returning via Mount Pleasant and Carr House.  There is an initial 0.5 mile road section. Tracks generally good, though could be muddy in places if we get a spell of wet weather. A few stiles. In the overall ascent there are 3-4 steepish but relatively short uphill sections. On the recce there was one field with cows, with an alternative route to skirt around via an adjacent field.  Common spotted and purple orchids if they are still in bloom, and if the weather is good we should see the Chimney Sweep, a day-flying moth ( + some butterflies if we are lucky).  Given the time of year and the weather, insect repellent may be advisable as there were some biting insects around.
