Overview

Climbing gradually up from Wylam through woods and farmland we reach Heddon on the Wall - Heddon translating to "the hill where heather grew". From Heddon we have expansive views of the Tyne valley. Descending to the River Tyne, we follow the waterside path back to Wylam.

Please meet for the start of the walk at the Tyne Riverside Country Park car park in Wylam (near the war memorial). Car sharing is recommended and we try to offer an informal share from the Wentworth car park in Hexham. Please contact the walk leader if you are interested (driver or passenger).
