Overview

This figure of 8 route offers the option of either a 6.5 or 10 mile circular walk to the east of Kirkham Abbey.

Starting near the hamlet of Menethorpe, we head east following the course of Menethorpe Beck before a coffee stop in the attractive village of Langton. From here, we head south through Kennythorpe and then west before arriving at the start point to complete the first ‘eastern’ loop of the walk. After crossing Menethorpe Suspension Footbridge we take a lunch stop with picturesque views over the River Derwent. We then begin the ‘western’ loop with a more challenging ascent through Hutton’s Bank Wood and arriving at Low Hutton before traversing the bridge once again to get back to the cars.

The walk is on a mixture of field edge paths, road and woodland trail.
