The walk starts at the Coach Car Park, Pateley Bridge. Ascending we will gain height along the Main Street (careful it is narrow narrow), we turn passing along a narrow passage way, ascending through the grounds of a derelict church. The route ascends further along a quiet public road to reach the course of a disused railway line serving a quarry. Passing the disused stone quarry the route reaches Wath Lane. Descending into Wath and passing The Sportsmans’ Arms (no time for a drink).
Crossing the River Nidd the route follows the Nidderdale Way ascending to reach Heathfield. The party now descends to reach Foster Beck and follows the beck to cross Ashford Side Beck reaching the remains of Providence lead Mine (1781 – 1873).
The route continues passing Hill End and Ladies Rigg. Leaving the Nidderdale Way on a path behind Eagle Hall the route returns to Pateley Bridge via Bridgehouse Gate.
