John Brewer Memorial Walk
To honour a leader who lead walks for us in London.
On arrival at Stratford we will make our way from the station through the Westfield Shopping Centre and into the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Our ramble (4.0 miles) will take us past the Olympic Stadium (now the home of West Ham United FC) and onto the Lee Valley Velodrome before returning to the Westfield Shopping Centre and breaking into smaller groups for further exploration of the shops and of course finding an enjoyable pit stop for lunch.
Lunch stops are available from a wide range of eateries both within and outside the Westfield Shopping Centre e.g. options include, the food court on the ground floor, sandwich bars or a wide range of restaurants e.g. Figo Italian, The Bat & Ball Pub etc…
If you prefer, you could bring your own lunch to enjoy on a wide range of seating within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park or indeed enjoy a light lunch in the Brew Café within the Park.
We begin our return journey to Waterloo (from Stratford 14.23) on the Jubilee line and aim to catch the 15.38 train from London Waterloo arriving in Winchester at 16.21
We meet as a group at Winchester Railway Station. Please be in good time to purchase your ticket(s) in order that our group catch the 09.18 train. You will need to purchase your rail tickets from Winchester to Stratford return. (After arriving at Waterloo we will take the Jubilee Line (underground) to Stratford).
For those who do not have a Senior Rail Card there is the option of joining up with others on the day for Group travel (a group is defined as a minimum of 3 people – who must travel there and back together).
Our group will initially gather outside the ticket barriers on the north bound side (platform 1).
Please book a place on this walk. You may use the email link.
