Overview

Morning Challenge Walk (12.5km - 3 hours - Brisk pace -Strenuous

Join us for the ultimate morning challenge as part of the 2025 walks festival! This demanding 12.5km route tests your endurance with a 3-hour time target and approximately 400 meters of total ascent across four significant hills.

Highlights include:

  • Turville Hill - crowned by its iconic and famous windmill
  • Fingest Wood Hill - offering spectacular views over the picturesque village of Fingest

The Route: Starting from Lane End, we descend into the charming village of Fingest before continuing to Skirmett. The challenge begins as we climb through Combe Wood, joining the renowned Chiltern Way path toward Turville. Here we tackle the ascent of Turville Hill with its historic windmill landmark.

After descending back to Fingest, we face another climb up Fingest Wood Hill before following ancient trail routes through the tranquil Mouseall Wood, finally returning to Lane End where the festival picnic awaits successful challengers.

Please stay on for the bring your own picnic at 1pm with the rest of the CWW group, and come on the afternoon walk if you can. Both of the strenuous walks from Pierre promise stunning Chiltern countryside views, historical landmarks, and the satisfaction of completing a true walking challenge. Suitable for experienced walkers seeking to test their pace and endurance.
