This moderate 6.5miles walk takes us through the undulating countryside round Morville & Shirlett, with splendid views to Brown Clee Hill, weather permitting. Although there is some walking on field footpaths, this is a great walk for wintery conditions as it is mostly along farm & woodland tracks, country house estate roads and quite country lanes.
Near the start, we walk up the stately lime tree lined drive to the Grade ll Palladian, Aldenham Hall where Charles I hid in a priest hole to evade Oliver Cromwell. We continue through Aldenham Park, up Round Hill, through the woodland of Shirlett High Park and back through fields surrounded by more woodland.
There are a few stiles and expect the arable fields to be muddy.
There will be one stop for coffee and one for lunch. Please bring your own refreshments.
Your leader will meet you at the start.
