The walk starts at the Scarborough Taps, which is where the Take A Hike monthly pub meet takes place.  This building has a blue plaque.

We will wend our way back and forth through the centre of Leeds, taking time to read a selection of blue plaques.  We will also stop to look at art work and buildings.  Although we pass many cafes, pubs, etc, we will not be stopping at them as we need to continue with the walk.  There are benches in various places, so we will take breaks as required.

Once we have seen four of the medieval gateway blue plaques we will head through the Dark Arches to the canal.  As we walk along the canal path we have views of some of the distinctive buildings on the Leeds skyline.

We head along Globe Road past the Italianate Towers of Globe Works.  We then head along Marshall Street to see the Egyptian architecture of Temple Works.

The end of the walk is a short distance from Leeds train station and the Scarborough Taps (shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to walk there). Possibility of drinks after the walk: https://midnightbell.co.uk/ LS11 5QN "Welcome to The Midnight Bell. Located in Holbeck’s atmospheric Urban Village – reputedly the oldest set of industrial buildings in the world – we are Leeds Brewery’s flagship pub." https://thecrosskeysleeds.co.uk/ LS11 5WD "The Cross Keys is at the heart of some of the most important industrial buildings of the Victorian age. It was here in Leeds that the engineer Matthew Murray first made his name developing steam engines, textile machinery and the very first locomotives. Indeed, shortly after opening it is said that rival engineer and inventor of the modern steam engine James Watt hired a room within the pub from which he spent 3 months spying on Murray and stealing trade secrets from the workers who were drinking in the pub.
