A brisk forest walk taking in High Beach, Lippitts Hill, the obligatory golf course (this time West Essex) and the beautiful Linder's Field local nature reserve. For those of you with long memories, you may remember this walk from 2023, but then it was anticlockwise, this time it is clockwise.
A few stiles and the possibility of nettles, but otherwise not too demanding. However it is autumn, this is Epping Forest, so there will probably be mud! So boots rather than trainers are the recommended footwear.
Lunch will be at High Beach where there is a pub and some kiosks that serve food but it can be quite busy so a back up picnic is advisable (and yes, the spelling is correct, it is not named after the tree, rather the sand and gravel that was found there).
Toilets are available at Loughton Station and at the lunch stop.
No easy exit points.
No booking required.
No Dogs
Travel to Starting point:
The walk starts and finishes at Loughton station on the Central Line which is in zone 6 (make sure you get on a train that stops at Loughton rather than the Roding valley branch)
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors such as weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken or unforeseen diversion due to paths closure.
