We are the East Cheshire Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
This approx. 4 mile walk starts at 7 pm from Brabyns Brow Car Park in Marple/Marple Bridge SJ964893. Sunset is at 9 pm which is why we will only do 4 miles.
We will walk through Marple Bridge village and then take the unsurfaced vehicular track to the industrial archaeological site of Mellor Mill. Thence past Roman Lakes, under the railway viaduct, and across Roman Bridge and follow the track up to the canal, en route crossing the main Marple to New Mills road. Then along the towpath to the canal junction next to Top Lock, down the locks to lock 7 where descend to Brabyns Park and walk back to our car park along the riverside.
If any participants are unfamiliar with the area, I will tell them a bit about the history of what we are seeing.
