Train based walk

Leader: Mark H (meeting at walk start)

Meet Point: On the Metrolink platform at Victoria Station. Alternatively, meet the group on the tram, or at the Walk Start at Newhey Metrolink Station. 

Transport to Walk Start: 10:40am tram on the Rochdale line to the walk start

Suggested Ticket:  Metrolink Zone 1-4 ticket

Walk Start: Newhey Metrolink Station at 11:30

Return Services:  Trams to Victoria every 12 minutes

Waypoints: Haugh Hamlet, Woodside, Ogden Reservoir, Kitcliffe Reservoir, Piethorne Reservoir, Cold Greave, Rooden Reservoir, Knowsley Plantation, Piethorne Reservoir, Turf hill, Ogden Reservoir, Huddersfield Road.

Extra: No toilets at walk start. No toilets en-route. Optional drinks at the end of the walk. Please do not bring your dog (apart from assistance dogs)

This circular walk from Newhey Metrolink station takes in multiple reservoirs, historic quarry workings and superb views over the Piethorne Valley and the surrounding hills.

There are a few climbs, with one particually narrow steep path so good footwear must be worn.

Please bring lunch and a hot drink
