Please join us for a walk from St Paul's Walden church, passing Hill End Chalk pit nature reserve to Hitch Woods where we can expect a fine display of bluebells. The walk continues over farmland back to St Paul's Walden, where a loop of 2 miles can be cut for anyone preferring a shorter walk. The loop takes us up through Reynolds Wood to Easthall Farm, then back to St Pauls Walden Bury along the long avenue of trees leading up to the house. There will be a short break midway through the walk, please bring your own refreshments.
St Paul's Walden Bury gardens will be open from 2 p.m. as part of the National Garden Scheme. Entry is £8.00, home made teas will be available. St Paul's Walden Bury is set in spectacular formal woodland gardens, laid out 1720, covering over 50 acres. Long rides lined with beech hedges lead to temples, statues, lake and a terraced theatre. Seasonal displays of daffodils, camelias, irises, magnolias, rhododendrons and lilies. This was the childhood home of the late Queen Mother.
