Overview

From Weston, we head across the lovely countryside in northern Hertfordshire and, after using a section of the Hertfordshire Way, arrive at the rural village of Wallington.

Here, George Orwell lived for a while and the farm in the village is reportedly the inspiration for one of his more famous books: Animal Farm.

Using the Icknield Way - a prehistoric track - we return to Weston after visiting St Mary's Church in Clothall, described by the author of Churches of Hertfordshire as: the single most lovable artefact in the whole of Hertfordshire.
