We are the West London Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We begin by walking through the Walthamstow Wetlands before cutting through the Walthamstow Marshes (potentially muddy) to join the River Lea Navigation. We then follow the river past Hackney Marshes to East Wick, stopping for lunch at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. After lunch we return to the River Lea Navigation and follow it down to Cody Dock, where we stop for an afternoon break. The final stretch of the walk is along roads to the East India Basin before heading back to the East India Dock DLR station. Packed lunch recommended, though there is a cafe in the park for drinks. There is also a cafe with cakes at the afternoon stop.
Flat walk mainly on canal paths and some street walking. But potentially very muddy where we cut through the marshes, boots / shoes with a good tread are recommended.
Lots of potential for bird watching in the wetlands and marshes, so feel free to bring binoculars.
There are potential drop out points at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (5 miles) or Star Lane DLR (8 miles).
