Overview

A beautiful linear walk over the South Downs to Brighton. First we head to the pretty village of Ditchling. Then we ascend on to the South Downs to Ditchling Beacon (the highest point in East Sussex). There are some lovely views. We continue through Stanmer Park, passing Stanmer House and Sussex University to the lunch time stop at Falmer. There is a pub, but please bring a packed lunch.

After lunch we pass the impressive Amex staduim (home of Brighton and Hove Football Club), then head south through more pleasant South Downs countryside, through Bevendean and Kemp Town Racecourse enjoying beautiful views of the sea. We finally descend into the lively seaside resort of Brighton. There are opportunities to drink, swim or paddle before heading to Brighton station.
