Leaving the car park at Trenchford Reservoir (the first of the three we encounter in close proximity to one another in this easterly part of the Dartmoor National Park), we first skirt its southern edge before crossing the dam separating it from neighbouring Tottiford. We then weave our way through wooded tracks and plantation paths, with views eventually opening out towards the moorland ridges.
At its most easterly point, our walk takes us close to the Great Stone on Bowden Farm. From here, the route bends westward along quiet lanes and field edges to reach the third of our reservoirs, Kennick.
The final section follows woodland paths and open clearings, eventually rejoining the path along the water’s edge back to Trenchford. Throughout, the terrain is a mix of well-signposted tracks, bridleways, and some very limited walking on minor roads. There are a few very moderate climbs.
If you would like to join this walk, please notify the leader, preferably by email, so that they can inform you of any late changes to arrangements.
