From the car park we will have a fine view of the impressive rock piles of Hound Tor, we will walk from Swallerton Gate, where we will see the head of a wayside cross, to Jay's Grave, with its intriguing story incorporated in a Seth Lakeman song. We will then explore Cripdon Rock with its rock basins and the surrounding down. We then visit the Blissmoor longhouse, before ascending on to Hayne Down Rocks. Bowerman’s Nose is located near the summit and has been used as the Dartmoor Preservation Association logo since October 1966. We will then return to our cars via Moyle's Gate and the lane which takes us back to Swallerton Gate.
We will probably visit a pub/café after the walk.
Please book with John Howell for the walk and if interested in food after the walk.
In association with Dartmoor Preservation Association.
If you would like to join this walk, please book with the leader, preferably by email, so that they can inform you of any late changes to arrangements.
