A 10 mile walk on the Yorkshire Wolds, initially following the Chalkland Way along Milham Dale and Thixen Dale and through the village of Thixendale up to North Plantation. The walk then switches onto the Yorkshire Wolds Way back towards Thixendale going down Vessey Hill to Cow Wold. Then onto access land above Water Dale, along Brownmoor Dale and up to Hanging Grimston Wold.
Great views, some ups and downs, and considering all the rain and snow, not too muddy!
The start point for the walk is on a layby on the Roman Road that goes from the A166 towards Leavening and Birdsall. The layby is 2.75 miles along this road from the A166, and is where the Chalkland Way leaves this road in an easterly direction towards Thixendale Grange and Thixendale.
If you are coming from the south from the A166 and arrive at the junction to the minor road on the left towards Hanging Grimston, you have gone past the layby (by a quarter of a mile)
Please park tightly in the layby as we need to get all the cars in!
