A pleasant circular route taking in Howardian Hills countryside and villages. Leaving Coxwold we pass the Church [octagonal tower] and Shandy Hall [Grade 1 listed], before descending to the old railway line [now a right of way] and head west then south to reach Husthwaite village. Continuing south for a few miles we reach 'Flower of May' and 'Peep O'Day' farms. Both attractively named but prepare for mud!
Changing direction to east and north, we go through Thornton Lodge Farm, aiming for Oulston. Here we turn west and using an ancient track for a couple of miles, we skirt the east side of Husthwaite onto Beacon Banks, following which is a descent into Coxwold.
Route will use cross field and field edge paths; farm tracks and minimal road walking. Could be muddy in places so poles will be useful. Possibility of livestock in fields.
Assistance dogs only and following liaison with Walk Leader.
