Overview

C WALK DESCRIPTION: Leader Kate Chester, 6 miles with 1,000 ft of climbing. The walk starts at the Hundred House in Great Witley from where there is a steep climb of 350 ft onto Abberley Hill.  We then take the excellent path which follows the ridge and with the trees not yet in leaf should give good views of the countryside below.  The ridge ends with a descent to a lane then the route follows open countryside to a lunch pub stop at the Manor Inn in Abberley Village.  Opposite the pub is the Norman now semi-ruinous St Michael’s church. There is an open enclosure within the ruins to eat our lunches and it’s worth looking at the intact part of the nave – it is usually open through a narrow side door.  After the pub we follow countryside paths to Snead Common where the walk finishes. Picnic lunch with pub. The fare is £15.
